2024 Postdocs and Research Fellows
We are thrilled to announce the addition of three amazing scholars who will join our team in 2024. Each will oversee one of our major studies and will support our consultations with Canadian churches and denominations.
Dr Wing Wong is a prolific scholar and experienced leader who has overseen many important studies about community-based health care, psychometrics, and the epidemiology of chronic pain. She is also an emerging theologian who is completing her Master of Theological Studies at Tyndale University. She will study Canadian churches in decline and how some escape this trajectory.
Dr James Watson is a church planting specialist, catalyst, and coach with a special focus on “tentmaking” studies, including coordinating the Canadian Multivocational Ministry Project. He has also conducted research into multicultural churches and how congregations can support newcomers that settle in Canada. James will bring this expertise to our investigation of church planting in Canada.
Dr Rebeca Heringer has extensive experience teaching and researching the connection between migration and consequent inequities and oppressions. She brings a wealth of qualitative and organizational experience to all her projects, most recently as Research Coordinator at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (University of Manitoba). She will lead our research into how we define and recognize “great” Canadian churches.
